We don’t enable ICE to victimize our neighbors, and neither should MNPD – Sign Petition Now!

Sign the petition — investigate MNPD collaboration with ICE!

July 30, 2019 (Nashville). Last Monday, neighbors and community activists stood up to injustice, racism, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement — and we won. When ICE tried to arrest a Hermitage resident without a warrant this Monday, he knew his rights and stayed in his van with his son. His neighbors quickly stepped up and spread the word. And people from all over Nashville mobilized to stop the racist deportation machine that day. After 4 intense hours, ICE agents stopped terrorizing the family and left. Videos of what happened quickly went viral nationally (Huffington Post article here).

We, as everyday residents of Nashville, do not have to be complicit in inhumane and unjust immigration policy, and the Metro Nashville Police Department shouldn’t be either. ICE called them for assistance, and MNPD police officers arrived at the scene early that morning. The videos demonstrating clear intimidation and collaboration are damning, but don’t take our word for it. HERE it is

Workers’ Dignity stands in solidarity with the Hermitage family and everyone who ICE threatens and harms. Sign the petition backed by 11 organizations and stand with us as we demand:

  • Investigate the MNPD practices and procedures that allowed MNPD to deploy officers to support ICE as they terrorize our communities.
  • Change policy to prevent further cooperation between MNPD and ICE
