Donate to our Year End Fund Drive: See how we’re prepared for 2021

December 1, 2020

Today is #GivingTuesday, and the launch of our Annual Year-End Fund Drive. It’s a time when we come to ask for your support again so we have the resources we need for the work ahead of us. If you share our vision of building a multiracial, multilingual mass movement by building relationships and solidarity among our fellow workers, by taking collective action to disrupt the status quo, and by building power in our neighborhoods and worksites to fight all forms of oppression, please make a donation to help us raise $40,000 this December.

Workers have been hit from all sides this year. Exploitation that was happening long before COVID has only worsened, but we’ve been on the frontlines organizing our people throughout. 2020 has been full of pivoting and adapting to respond to what workers need, and our movement has only grown stronger as a result. This year alone we have:

  • Trained hundreds of construction workers to report COVID-violations and organize  for better conditions, and won health and safety improvements at one of Nashville’s largest commercial construction sites.
  • Hired summer and fall interns, directly from our membership, to increase our capacity to respond to higher-than-ever new worker contacts.
  • Launched a new and first of its kind Workers’ Compensation education and organizing program for injured workers to learn how to navigate a difficult system, in their preferred language, and earn the benefits they deserve (like replacement wages and necessary surgeries and healthcare).
  • Provided $60,000 in direct cash assistance to construction and domestic workers and distributed more than 7,000 masks to families throughout south Nashville.
  • Responded to the tragic death of 16-year-old worker Gustavo “Kike” Rameriz and immediately began meeting with state and local policymakers to improve construction safety standards and corporate accountability.
  • Marched in the streets to defend Black Lives and co-founded the Nashville People’s Budget Coalition to pressure the Metro Council to defund the police and fund public resources and services in our communities.
  • Successfully pressured the Metro Nashville School Board to drop a low-road contractor with wage theft allegations– a victory that will impact hundreds of workers that labor on MNPS construction sites across the county.
  • Launched a new Youth Leadership Training Program, in partnership with four other Nashville organizations, to train our future movement leaders.
  • Recovered $30,000 in stolen wages.

Our people make our movements strong. This year has shown that even during the most challenging of times our leaders still move our work forward. Every dollar we raise helps us reach more workers, train more leaders, and grow the power of our campaigns. Will you deepen your commitment to building a multiracial, multilingual, worker-powered movement in Nashville by donating to our Year End Fund Drive? All donations are tax-deductible.

Throughout December we will share exciting updates that you don’t want to miss. Our biggest campaigns, and victories, are ahead of us. There are many ways you can show up to support our movement, and today we ask you to donate whatever amount you can. We couldn’t do this work without you and the support of so many others.
